Apple Mail (iOS, macOS, iPadOS)

Notice: Occasionally Apple devices enable Automatically manage connection settings unexpectedly, which can change your SMTP port to 25 and disable password auth. If you suddenly cannot send or receive email, check this setting first.

Method 1: Configuration Profile (Recommended)

The easiest way to set up your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is to download a configuration profile directly from your mail control panel. Log in to the webmail at https://mail.clientdomain.co.uk first, then download the profile from your account settings page.

  • Email only (IMAP & SMTP): Download the mailcow.mobileconfig (email only) profile from your account settings.
  • Email + Calendar + Contacts: Download the mailcow.mobileconfig (full) profile for IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, and CardDAV in one go.

Once downloaded, open the profile on your device and follow Apple’s installation prompts. You will need to confirm the installation as the profile is self-signed.

Method 2: Exchange ActiveSync (iOS/iPadOS — push email)

ActiveSync gives you push email (instant notifications) but limits contacts to 3 email addresses per entry. Use this if push email is important to you.

  1. Follow Apple’s Exchange setup instructions and choose Microsoft Exchange as the email service.
  2. Enter your email address (yourname@clientdomain.co.uk) and tap Next.
  3. When asked whether to send your address to Microsoft, select Manual Configuration.
  4. Enter your password and tap Next. If you use two-factor authentication, use an app password instead.
  5. When prompted for server, enter: mail.clientdomain.co.uk
  6. Tap Save.

Manual Setup (IMAP / SMTP)

If you prefer to configure manually without a profile:

Incoming (IMAP) Server mail.clientdomain.co.uk
IMAP Port 993 (SSL/TLS)
Outgoing (SMTP) Server mail.clientdomain.co.uk
SMTP Port 587 (STARTTLS)
Username yourname@clientdomain.co.uk
Authentication Password
